i'm not really a blog person but what the heck...

art in its visual form is everywhere- in the roots of trees, the formation of clouds, the way someone dresses up to the simple doodles in your math notebook, it's just a sad reality that not everyone can appreciate it.

art is a craft one has to take care of, it's not something that grows overnight while you daydream.

art is an expression but with a standard and a purpose. pornography for the sake of making bucks is not art. some consider nudity as vulgarity or such but with the right perspective and purpose it becomes something beautiful.

as an artist i found myself drowning in responsibilities, being an the only art editor in an organization in our school, it's hard balancing my art and the expectations of people. but like i said, art is a craft, you develop it by doing more and being criticized and then doing more again and improving.

my talent (and so i say...) is improving but somehow is a heavy price i have to pay but nonetheless the best reward one artist gets. a simple appreciation of a poster i made is enough to fuel me up for the next project but artists shouldn't relay on inspiration alone, you have to drive yourself to do art not for the sake of appreciation but for yourself and for art's sake.

the thing with art is... it's bittersweet.

and just before our publication's outing?! it was a sad sad day. my canon a430 was a debut gift last year and it had been my faithful companion ever since.

as most of you know i am a photography enthusiast and having a good camera, digicam the very least, is essential. my cam's been shipped off to manila for repair. i have to wait till xmas to get it back, which i think i can't wait for.

i have to get a cam, my parents' ancient kodak digicam (the one shot w/my last two uploads) is.. well, ancient. its noise and blurry addition is unbearable.

i'm planning to shift to sony's cybershot choices but still considering canon since it's what i'm used to. there's also that thought of buying an dslr but budget's tight.

any suggestions for a good cam? i'm more of a conceptual, landscape, portrait kind of photographer... so something w/good color-capturing feature would do~

 i miss my camera.

What a Glossy Photopaper Taught Me

photography has always been an interest... then it became a hobby... then an obsession... soon a realization... and now a window to the world.

there's just something about capturing a certain moment in a glossy sheet of photopaper that brings out the emotion out of people.

one not only reminisces but also reflects.

as i journey through the many projects our dear photography teacher, Sir Evans Yonson, has put up for the class i realize that a photograph is powerful, even more powerful than words.

i have still a lot to learn about the mechanics, concepts, compositions, etc. of photography but the lessons i learned looking through the lenses / viewfinder has opened my eyes into a whole new reality.

and i shall continue my quest into bringing to the world my side of the story through a light-captured moment.

my favorite poem by Pablo Neruda

I do not love you as if you were the salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

i made this late one night 2 months ago? this has to be one of my favorite poems i've ever made. why? it's simple yet how do i say this... powerful? well, you decide.

“If”

If I could stare at you forever
I’ll never blink
If I was falling
With you I’ll sink

If I could embrace you now
I’ll never let go
If I could kiss you goodnight
May the sun I don’t know

If you were a song
You’ll be my perfect lullaby
If you were a star
You’ll be the brightest in the sky

If you were a poem
You’ll be my reason to smile
If you were a road
I’ll walk the extra mile

If time could stop
I’ll spend every moment with you
If my heart could only tell
The you’re the only thing it knew

If you were mine
Then I would need nothing more
If only you felt the same way
Then I’ll know what my heart is for
