i'm not really a blog person but what the heck...
art in its visual form is everywhere- in the roots of trees, the formation of clouds, the way someone dresses up to the simple doodles in your math notebook, it's just a sad reality that not everyone can appreciate it.
art is a craft one has to take care of, it's not something that grows overnight while you daydream.
art is an expression but with a standard and a purpose. pornography for the sake of making bucks is not art. some consider nudity as vulgarity or such but with the right perspective and purpose it becomes something beautiful.
as an artist i found myself drowning in responsibilities, being an the only art editor in an organization in our school, it's hard balancing my art and the expectations of people. but like i said, art is a craft, you develop it by doing more and being criticized and then doing more again and improving.
my talent (and so i say...) is improving but somehow is a heavy price i have to pay but nonetheless the best reward one artist gets. a simple appreciation of a poster i made is enough to fuel me up for the next project but artists shouldn't relay on inspiration alone, you have to drive yourself to do art not for the sake of appreciation but for yourself and for art's sake.
the thing with art is... it's bittersweet.
Devious Comments
Honestly, I hate it when I speak to someone and they can't see the beauty of somethings. We went to France the last summer, and my dad wasn't interested in the paintings in the Louvre. He said it couldn't be appreciated as much as architecture or something like that. He just ended up pissing me, and my boyfriend off. That didn't ruin any of our experiences in the Louvre, though. We were able to enjoy all of it, but not only does that apply to things in a museum.
I was with a friend from my choir, and we were out talking about this same subject, and he's a photographer, and he said, "Hey, see that bridge over there? Look at it. The way the light curves, and the way the other side looks so small in it's perspective. It's beautiful. But no one is gonna take the time to call it art-worthy. They're just gonna call it a bridge."
Art is so unfortunate in the sense that only a few people actually see it. :/

Exactly! I'm sad that the people in my visual communications class aren't more excited when it comes down to art itself. I know they're not the same, but I think I can make advertisements that are artistic and informative. No one else seems to be making the connection. >>
Woo! Yes, power to the artists!
